Within the framework of Dark Forest, artist Marta Galindo conceived a site-specific performance exploring the relationships between the fabulous, the subterranean, and animality, reimagining the space of the dark web.
Strangers in the Night took place on the night of the 2024 winter solstice, inside an elevator. The piece examines the fictional digital fauna of the dark web (also known as the dark forest) and its connection to the hidden corners of the internet. The script unfolds as a fable fused with drag show and lipsync, raising questions about desire, disgust, attraction, and cringe. The performer embodies a nocturnal, chain-smoking squirrel who ascends in the elevator from the depths and recounts stories from the deep web.
Performer: José Velasco.
Documentation: Juan Borgognoni.
